Columbia University Libraries Columbia University Libraries podcasts, instructional materials & blog design

In 2009, I worked for the Columbia University Libraries Digital Libraries Program Division in a half-year contract as a multimedia producer. In this post, I collaborated with librarian tutorial-makers to reformat existing instructional tutorials for use on the web and as downloadable podcasts, edited 12 hour-long episodes of the "Friends of the Libraries" audio lecture recordings from 2007 - 2009 and recorded/edited a 16-minute slideshow podcast for the Avery Architectural & Fine Arts Library's Recent Acquisitions event. These programs can be found in the Columbia University Libraries' iTunes University space. I also designed the library blogs interface page which houses a WordPress blog platform for use by university librarians. A longterm goal of this project was to define a workflow for multimedia projects on servers and on the web. Finally, I drafted a manual and set of internal graphics to guide librarians in the creation of new tutorials. This position culminated in a Digital Libraries Seminar Series presentation entitled "Multimedia in Libraries".

finish finish - creative surfaces for objects & interiors

The finish website is the result of a 4-year collaboration with interior and landscape designer Phoebe Tremalio-Slater. Built in HTML with an animated Flash component, multiple portfolio pages and minimal dynamic visual effects, the finish website is a true testament to Phoebe Tremalio-Slater's aesthetic and projects.

Doctors of the Darkside Doctors of the Darkside website (a documentary film by Martha Davis, coming soon).

The Doctors of the Darkside website was a collaborative build with Martha Davis, documentary film maker and psychologist. The film exposes the scandal behind the torture scandal -- how psychologists and physicians devised, supervised and covered up the torture of detainees in US controlled military prisons. Producer/Director Martha Davis (Interrogation Psychologists) spent four years investigating the controversy. The feature-length, HD documentary film is written by Oscar-winner Mark Jonathan Harris (Into the Arms of Strangers) and Lisa Rinzler (Pollock) is the award-winning director of photography. Actors demonstrate enhanced interrogation methods and the doctor's role, according to declassified government documents. The stories of four detainees and the doctors involved in their torture reveal, both for detainee welfare and the integrity of the health care professions, the cost of putting doctors virtually in charge of detainee interrogations.
